More Info Regarding File Extension ITL
ITEM Toolkit
Programs that fall within the ITEM Toolkit library sometimes use the ITL file extension. The ITEM Toolkit is a type of software that is used as an analytical tool in many different types of industries. There are a broad array of different ITEM Toolkit programs, and people who have ever had one of these programs installed on their computer may run across files with the ITL extension.
If you have an ITL file that you suspect was created using one of the ITEM Toolkit programs, the only way to open it is by using the given program. Errors are very common when someone tries to open an ITEM toolkit ITL file with an unrelated type of program. The computer system will be unable to recognize the file type, and unless the user figures out that it is from an ITEM Toolkit program, opening it will be impossible.
Should someone send you a file ending in the extension ITL, check to see if it is supposed to be an ITEM Toolkit program file. If so, open it with the associated program. If you do not have access to the proper ITEM Toolkit program, the file cannot be opened and should be returned to the sender. They will have to resend the file in a readable format, or cancel the process altogether.
iTunes
The popular program iTunes uses the file extension ITL for the creation of its music library. However, users do not need to use the actual ITL file for any specific purpose and therefore are unlikely to ever encounter it in their daily computer use. These types of files are integrated into the overall running of iTunes, and cannot be used in any other way. Users cannot edit ITL files themselves; rather, within iTunes they can reorganize and sort the music according to their own personal preferences.
There should never be any need to use an ITL iTunes file. Should the file inadvertently be deleted, a user will have to reset all of their ratings, comments, and play lists within iTunes. If you run across an ITL file that you know to be associated with iTunes, then, do not delete or attempt to modify it. Doing so will result in all of your current settings being wiped out, and you will have to redo all of the organization in your iTunes library. Error messages involving the iTunes ITL file extension generally do not occur and are quite unheard of as these files work within the actual program.
